Not all startups can access money market accounts through their bank.

As a founder, building your business takes priority. Traditional banking products take time away from founders on actually building their businesses. Bad UX, high minimums and manual processes are preventing founders from the potential of earning tens or hundreds of thousands of returns on their idle GBP, EUR and USD.

You don’t meet their high minimums

You’re required to sacrifice liquidity for yield

Technology and convenience is not their priority

Unlock even higher yields

Earn up to 4.64% yield* with lower-risk, high-liquidity money market funds managed by Blackrock

Access your funds with next day liquidity**

Stay liquid without long lockups with next day liquidity**. Gain access to your funds when you need them. In one click, you can request the liquidation of your investments and withdraw funds on the same or next day of the liquidation of your investments being credited to your account.

Have some questions?

How does treasury work?
  1. During onboarding, we support you in creating a brokerage account at Wealthkernel in your name. Once this is created, you can deposit funds into the brokerage account through the Round dashboard.
  2. You can then use the platform to select your investment preferences by changing the allocation of funds between cash and money market fund in the brokerage account. Once this is changed, this transmits a buy or sell order of the fund (depending on the portfolio allocation change) which is executed at the brokerage on your behalf.
How much does it cost?

It’s free to open an account. We also don’t charge any ‘platform’ fees.

You pay: a flat 0.20% p.a on total assets under arrangement. This is annualised, calculated daily and deducted automatically monthly. Read more about our fees for our Products here.

What is the minimum Treasury deposit?

There are no minimums.

Do you offer accounts in other currencies?

We also offer US dollar and Euro accounts through Interactive Brokers.

What is the Treasury onboarding process?

Step 1: Provide KYB/C information and documents. We will need to KYB/C any directors and UBO’s with >25% beneficial ownership in the onboarding entity.

Step 2: This information is reviewed and sent to Wealthkernel for screening

Step 3: If no further information is required and you pass the screening, the account will be opened and accessible from the Round dashboard.

Support: We provide ongoing support through a dedicated Slack channel to help answer any questions you have throughout the onboarding process. There is also an FAQs section on our dashboard where you can find answers to common questions.

Timelines: 3-5 days from submission of the KYB form.

What is a Money Market Fund?

Money Market Funds are low risk, highly liquid and AAAmmf-rated investments that pay interest.

What should I keep in mind when investing?

When depositing your business funds to your business account, while making sure your money is working hard for you and your business, please take care with it too

  • Don't invest money that you need to operate the business day-to-day
  • Always make sure you have operational cash in an FSCS protected account

We're here to help you invest and grow any excess business capital you have, but remember that capital is still at risk when it's invested.

Do I own the underlying assets in my Treasury?

Your assets are yours, no one else’s.

You are the legal owner of all your investments, and your assets are held in separate accounts. Your assets can’t be touched by our creditors and in the unlikely event of Round’s insolvency, everything is returned to you.

Who are the counterparties involved?
  • Wealthkernel Limited are the underlying custodian and broker
  • Blackrock is the fund manager
  • JP Morgan are the custodians of the Blackrock investment funds
  • Round is a technology platform which is not in the flow of funds
Which broker do you use?

We use Wealthkernel Limited and InteractiveBrokers. Both are FCA approved leading brokerage platforms.

What is the credit risk and how is risk managed?

All BlackRock MMFs are AAAmmf rated by S&P, Moody’s and Fitch, and have to invest in securities with a minimum credit rating of A-1/P-1/F1.

All BlackRock funds are managed with objectives of capital preservation and liquidity first and foremost, with a tertiary objective of yield. The BlackRock Cash Management credit process follows a three-pronged approach with oversight from the Portfolio Managers, the Risk and Quantitative Analysis team and team of dedicated Credit Analysts.

At BlackRock a team of around 40 credit analysts (2 dedicated cash credit analysts) constantly monitor underlying fund securities, alongside the regulatory requirements. Each Fund manager is constantly monitoring and positioning Fund to uphold primary objectives as market moves.

Portfolios are stress-tested on a day-to-day basis by BlackRock Risk and Quantitative Analysts. There are more than 190 shock scenario runs for each portfolio daily

All funds sit under a segregated Institutional Cash plc holding, with all assets ring-fenced and held by J.P. Morgan SE Dublin which acts as Fund Depositary, Custodian, Transfer Agent.

How long does it take to process deposits and withdrawals into the Treasury Product?

Deposits can be matched instantly if it has the correct reference when initiating the bank transfer from your bank. In some scenarios (e.g., if you make a deposit with an incorrect reference), it can take longer for us to reconcile your deposit, which will delay the order. For buy and sell orders received before 1pm UK time, the order will match the same day and settle the following working day. For orders received after the cutoff, the order will match on the next working day, and settle the day after that.

Withdrawals are processed on the same day if requested before 3pm UK time. If you request a withdrawal after the cutoff, it will be processed the next working day. In some cases, it can take a total of 3 working days for the money to reach your account (e.g., if investments must be sold to have enough cash to withdraw, the sale will need settle before the cash withdrawal can be made).

What protection do I have?

All assets held under custody at Wealthkernel are protected by The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to a value of £85,000.
